Did You Know?

…that if you look at a picture in a museum, you can’t reproduce the experience by taking a photo on your cell phone. The art is too subtle to be reproduced mechanically. If you take the picture to prove, or to remind yourself, or commemorate, that you saw the picture, maybe your time would be better spent looking at the picture…that is, extending and enriching your experience of looking at the picture.

Or perhaps you take the picture because you lack the confidence that you can do that, so you take the picture as a substitute for having the experience of looking. But looking, like the “simple” act of walking, takes practice. To do it well, you have to practice. So have enough confidence in yourself to practice. I call such practice “living”. Try it; you’ll like it.
