Email on my cat

…since the better weather of summer my cat spends almost all her time, night and day, outdoors. She comes in occasionally to eat and sometimes to receive her spa treatments…which are a thorough brushing with a cat brush. She loves those. Then she goes out again. From her point of view, she has it made.

There are some food sources for cats in warmer weather; cats are effective hunters of small prey. And she is light and quick. So she often eats out. Winters offer meager opportunities in that respect. If she doesn’t find anything, she eats at home.

I’m not worried about her. She so identifies with nature that she is part of it. She absolutely loves it. So even if she passes away, still she lives, because nature still lives. It’s what she is, so she’s immortal.

But when harsh weather and winter comes, she’ll sleep indoors at night. That’s her practice. She’s no dope.
