Space Wars

Midnight came and the beach had light from a cut of moon that hung near the ocean and made the final cement from humanity glow a bit before sand came and extended to the waves that brought tide and white static to the arcade. The facility was open to the Pacific Ocean and Mission Beach had mostly gone home as I battled black holes and killer starships in a Space Wars cabinet, hoping I’d live to find a vegan burger. Yes, the Vectorbeam™ monitor worked quite well…until it was time to barefoot home as the moonlight dropped and stars went quiet.
